Culture: Weekend Film Club

Movie nights are a summer staple of ours. After the go-go-go of the city, some evenings all we want to do is kick back in the cool and take a trip to another era or exotic locale via the big screen. Whether you’re in the Big Apple or the Brittish side of the sea, Soho is home to your new favorite cinema spot at Firmdale Hotels’ weekend film club.

Grab a glass of champagne, take your custom red leather and cowhide Poltona-designed seat, and pass the popcorn while the latest blockbuster, or intriguing biopic fills the state of the art screen. With recent films including a documentary about longtime Beatles’ assistant Freda Kelly and a performance of Alan Ayckbourn’s riotous play ‘A Small Family Business’ live-streamed from the National Theatre, the selection of films is as well curated as the Firmdale’s contemporary art collection.

Come early to enjoy afternoon tea in the eclectic Kit Kemp-designed interior or stay late for desert and a quiet drink at the bar. Feel at home yet? Make it a staycation and book a room for the night. Movie night can continue in your suite after a browse of the Firmdale’s DVD library.
