Damien Hirst x Hoorsenbuhs

Fashion houses from Céline, to Prada drew inspiration from the twentieth century art greats for their Spring ’14 collection, but what happens when the artist gets in on the designing? Damien Hirst, reigning day art world king of contemporary pop and irreverence may have the answer.

His latest wearable collaboration with hip California jeweler duo Hoorsenbuhs translates Hirst’s iconic pill cabinet installations into gold and precious gem limited-edition statement pieces. Bold and ironic, the two-thus-far revealed pieces in the ‘The Cathedral Collection,’ a cocktail ring and a rosary necklace, available 18K yellow, rose or white gold and dotted with rubies and white and black, are nothing but lust-worthy. The pieces are distinct and a bit daring, but certainly designed to be wearable. Released in stamped and numbered 25-piece runs, we’re guessing people will be lining up at the sole retailer of the collection, Hirst’s London-based Bond Street shop, Other Criteria, to get their hands on the opulent pieces.

The Hirst x Hoorsenbuhs collection reinterprets contemporary art as accessories, and together they’ve definitely upped the art/fashion crossover game. The covetable collection will be available later this month.
