Garnering praise and recognition the world over with his uber-cool, feminine and attention grabbing pieces, Aussie based designer Ryan Storer is swiftly gaining ground as one of the industries latest and greatest in accessory design.
With the initial creation of (what has become) his signature Swarovski encrusted ear cuff back in April 2012, Storer’s designs simultaneously allow consumers to make a statement while expressing their own personal style. The initial collection comes after 13 years within the industry, 10 of them spent with the brand Peter Lang, where he had the opportunity to collaborate with other covetable Aussie based brands like Sass & Bide and Dion Lee, enabling him to craft his own aesthetic and signature style that can now be seen on Hollywood’s trend setting “it” girls like Rita Ora, Cara Delevigne and even Queen “B” herself.
“My personal style is quite minimal where as the brand seems to be my outlet for drama, I do try to keep things as “clean line” in the collection as possible but it does get a little hard when everything sparkles.” – Ryan Storer for VogueItalia.com
Since the debut of his first solo collection in November 2013, Storer’s ear cuffs have taken off thanks to their wearable-art function allowing them to stand out amongst a sea of trend setting accessories. With his use of high quality materials, unique shapes and his ability to seamlessly combine hard edge with glamour it’s no wonder these brilliant one-of-a-kind pieces have brought instant fame to the designer. Lucky for us, it’s not just ear cuffs that Storer has been able to fasten into fashion gold. He’s now dazzling consumers by expanding into necklaces and rings that are twisted and warped from various shades of gold and sterling silvers showcasing floating pearls and jet-black crystals.
So, what’s next for the designer? A brief mention of working on a leather goods collection and an affinity for shoe-making make us all wait with breath that is baited for what will sure to be more must-haves in the upcoming seasons. Having already been featured in a variety of high profile print publications – including covers of Vogue Australia – he’s also grabbed the attention of many e-commerce darlings like Net-A-Porter, yoox.com and The Corner assisting in his rapid company growth and allowing all of us the opportunity to dabble in the world of Ryan Storer whenever we so choose.
