Colored denim, it seems, is here to stay-at least for the foreseeable future. Embracing this trend during the summer was easy; a billowy white tank, some mixed bangles, a gladiator flat and you were good to go. As the weather turns cooler, however, throwing on a pair of bright jeans can challenge even the veteran fashionista.
Olivia pairs her red skinny jeans with a printed scarf, chocolate over the knee boots and a double-breasted jacket. Seems simple, right? OK, look closer. The boots and jacket brown, yes, but not the same shade of brown. That’s the key to this look. Pairing a jacket and high-rise boot of the exact same color, and you look like a fashion sandwich. Instead, go for a slight variations of the same color; it’s much softer, and you won’t look like you hit ‘cut and paste’ to dress. Another thing to keep in mind: proportion. Regardless if your style is rocker chic or classic preppy, keeping your boots and jacket slim will ensure a pulled together look.
Here are three ways to incorporate Olivia’s look, and make it your own:
If your colored denim has a worn or faded finish, try a charcoal jacket and black boots.
