Lines We Love: Bionda Castana

We’re not all fortunate enough to have found ‘The One’. And by that, I’m referring to the perfect shoe, of course. The one that makes your heart flutter and your eyes glaze over. The one you have to have as soon as it hits your peripherals. But Brit duo Jennifer Portman and Natalia Barbieri wanted to change all that. These London-based friends wanted every woman to experience that inimitable, fashion-fuelled sensation, and so footwear line, Bionda Castana was born.

Established in 2007, the label is known for it’s feminine shapes and sophisticated styles. Not to mention top quality. Each pair of their shoes is handcrafted in Milan using textiles sourced from all around the world. Well, if it’s good enough for Mossy, it’s good enough for us! The feeling must be mutual for Brit designers Sophie Hulme and Osman, as they’ve both had hugely successful collaborations with Bionda Castana, the latter of which launched at LFW 2012.

Although it must be said that this label doesn’t need a celebrity hook to reel you in, the shoes speak for themselves. Bionda Castana girls appreciate beautiful form and subtle twists on classic prints. Think sleek pointed stilettos, with the daintiest of bow-strings, given a modern flash of sheer paneling. Silk, pistachio low-heeled moccasins, complete with unusual monochrome florals, to give the ditsy theme an updated revamp. Their designs are stunning and often very detailed, but the truth is, Bionda Castana can be summed up in two words. Unapologetically glamorous.
