Lines We Love: Canfora of Capri

Canfora

When glamazon Brigitte Bardot walked around the island of Capri in her glory days, she was surely wearing her Canfora strappies. After all, the brand has been in existence since 1946, and all sorts of royals covet these easy-on flats.

The popularity of Canfora sandals is not a surprise. Handmade in a workshop on Capri, using 100% Italian materials, these sandals are still constructed in the exact same manner Mr. Amedeo Canfora conceived back in the late 40s’.

Canfora sandals are the highest quality Capri-style sandal available on the market. The sole is composed of multiple layers of Italian leather, sewn (not glued) together, with an iron arch support, which preserves form and consistency. Straps are nailed to the sole to provide maximum durability; these flats truly last a lifetime. Some styles are adorned with characteristic Italian costume jewelry and a rainbow of precious stones. Although they can be ordered in various heel heights, the traditional Capri sandal, patented by Amedeo Canfora, is almost flat, making it ideal for island hopping in the Mediterranean.

Today, anyone can order their own distinctive pair of Canfora flats – they are made to order, making this purchase a justifiable collectible.
