Nail It Right

- By Andrea Mestrovic -

The second thing one notices about another’s appearance, upon that initial face-to-face greeting, are hands. The first, unquestionably, are the shoes.  To the (annoyingly) sophisticated observer, your hands and your manicure tell an unimaginably comprehensive account of who you are, what you do, and how many assistants you have.  Hence, keeping up with those weekly manicures becomes entirely de rigueur.  If you also happen to be on trend with nail shape and the latest shade craze, you’re winning on multiple levels.
-
The most prevalent nail color trend on the runways this spring is minimalist nude – seen at Tom Ford, Derek Lam, Christopher Kane, and Mark Jacobs.  Minimalist, but never basic: soft seashell, syrupy honey, dusty rose and buttery beige.  Try Tom Ford’s Toasted Sugar, Dior Vernis City of Gold, or Chanel Le Vernis Frisson.  Any of these tempting shades will match all your wardrobe changes this season.

A collection of gratifying blush colors that shimmer and pop against any skin tone are also in focus for spring.  The Chanel Glossimer collection features fair corals, iridescent pinks and persuasive reds – all sophisticated and proper, but with a touch of summer zing.

For the challengers and the seekers, there is no lack of ambitious colors and creative nail art, also: moody ombre effects at Jen Kao, black swan graffiti at Wayne, bright chartreuse at Karen Walker, intense mint and royal purple at Dolce & Gabbana.  These are inspiring and influential, but most importantly – a way to artistically express your fashion mood of the day.
