If Barbie was real, the closet in her dream house (in real-life, an upper-east side brownstone) would be filled with Lorry Newhouse‘s Spring 2013 collection. Newhouse’s vision for next season is lady-like and chic, yet playful and wonderfully whimsical. Layers of tulle, lace, silks and satins were aplenty, all in shimmering pastels and luminous whites. Newhouse excels in detailing, evident in a white tulle and crystal embellished dress, and especially in a cotton candy colored dress with paisley-like swirls of pink and mint tulle. Ball-gown skirts, done in aqua-colored tulle and silk, evoke visions of being paired with a fitted tee and statement necklace, awaiting red-carpet appearances that lie surely in their future. The collection’s strongest looks also included a pink lamé long-sleeve dress with a pussy-bow collar, and a blue and white lace fitted dress.
Newhouse does what fashion – at its core – is all about: fun and fantasy. And though Barbie isn’t real, thanks to Lorry Newhouse, your dream of owning her wardrobe can be.
