Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week: Peter Som

- By Teresa Greenfeld -

The floral reign will continue through Spring 2013, according to Peter Som‘s vision for next season. Som seemed to pay homage to the 70′s throughout this morning’s show, starting first with a myriad of watercolor florals; cornflower blue, lilac and mint green, done particularly well in a wide leg pant paired with a short sleeve, pointed collar, floral blouse. The shoes must be noted: pointed-toe pumps done in a matching floral, and metallic, ankle-strap stilettos, also with a pointed toe.

The mood changed as Som sent mustard knits, navy-on-navy floral embroidery, and orange floral prints down the runway.  An orange floral-printed, long sleeve gown with a contrasting white pointed collar was paired with a mustard and green heathered knit v-neck; a definite standout of the collection.  Also among the standout looks was an orange silk jacket with wide lapels and trimmed in black lace , and a metallic animal print, done in both cropped pants and in shorts with a matching jacket

Overall, Som’s collection was, as usual, strong and on-point; indicative of what is sure to be the tone of the rest of spring’s collections.
