Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week: Tibi

- By Teresa Greenfeld -

The evolution of Tibi and designer Amy Smilovic was perhaps no more apparent than it was for Spring 2013.  Showing a very geometric, clean and modern collection, Smilovic proves, without a doubt, that she gets exactly how the Tibi girl has matured, and what she aspires to become.   The tailored-to-a-T collection was one that left you waiting breathlessly for each look to be revealed, not believing that the next could top the one before.  Smilovic did not disappoint.  Introducing denim into the collection by way of swinging cropped-sleeve jackets, boxy vests, and slouching trousers, which, given Tibi’s attention to cut and shape, will be a must buy on Spring shopping lists.  The aforementioned swinging denim jacket, shown with khaki and black paneled trousers, a black leather, sleeveless peplum top, paired with a micro-pleated yellow skirt, and color-blocked camel and white shorts, were just a few of the standout looks.  But the most amazing came last: a black leather, laser-cut dress, with a drop-waist and full skirt; the likes of which can be worn on countless occasions, from an evening out, to an afternoon shopping.  The only disappointment? That we have to wait months to get our hands on Tibi Spring 2013.
