From the moment she first appeared in the public eye to present day – Nati Abascal has always epitomized refinement, sophistication and feminine Spanish style. As a socialite, art enthusiast, former model and (former) Duchess of Feria, she has stolen the heart of every elite fashion designer and world-wide known artist from Donatella Versace to Carolina Herrara, Andy Warhol to Salvador Dali. With her big almond-shaped eyes, a bikini ready figure and stand out ensembles, Nati Abascal is proof that sometimes style ceases to ever fade away.
Born on April 2nd in Seville, Spain, her modeling career began when her regal, defining stature caught the eye of Spanish designer Elio Berhanyer, who asked Abascal and her twin sister Ana, to model his collection at the International Exhibiton in New York. She was then spotted by famed photographer Richard Avedon, who photographed her for his now famous ‘The Iberians’ editorial spread for Elle Magazine. After swiftly moving from Spain to New York City, she soon would grace coveted magazine covers; among them Elle and Harper’s Bazaar, which lead to a contract with Ford Models. As her career progressed, she would also add “actress” to her resume with a role in Woody Allen’s movie, Banana’s, and even starred in a famous alka-seltzer commercial with Salvador Dali. Add in her decades long relationship as a muse to both Oscar de la Renta and Valentino – and it’s no surprise she is cemented as a fixture in the fashion world forever.
Now years later, Nati continues to make a powerful mark in that world with numerous number one rankings on the International “Best Dressed List”, providing fashion advisement to Hola! magazine and the Spanish fashion brand, Mango. Always impeccably dressed, whether it be day-to-day life, or on the red carpet in stunning couture – she continues to inspire and proves that style and elegance is ageless.
