Spring 2013 is a season of accents – some much more intimidating than others, but nevertheless their presence seems more critical than ever. To start light, we are living and loving the transparent movement – Furla’s colossal hit, overlooked and forgotten since the brand’s 2007 bandage Perspex bangles – is this spring’s most unruffled genre. Perspex gives an icy cool finish to everything from a tailored trouser suite at Valentino to a mawkish summer dress at Chloe.
We live for sharp whites – in our books, appropriate anytime of the year – so it’s especially joyful to see white runways for Spring 2013. Roberto Cavalli snake-skin pinch bag in powder white with dense gold hardware is a standout; Ferragamo slouchy version is flawless for the office, and Victoria Beckham’s thin sachel-esque clutch gaps the bridge between the office and post-work cocktails.
Stacking is mandatory and, at last, a binding excuse to buy two of everything. Mismatched or matched, to stack is to create, influence, and inspire. We saw this done flawlessly at Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, and Marimekko. From botanical jewels to the new grab bag, here are a few of our favourite must-have, must-share accessories for Spring 2013.
